Bev Shipley (MP for LKM) and Karen Vecchio (MP for EML) will join us to share their views about the past, present and future for conservative politics in central southwestern Ontario.  This session will be moderated by Joe Preston (Mayor of St. Thomas).  Questions from the audience will be welcomed.

Bev Shipley (MP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex) has worked and lived in the Lambton- Kent-Middlesex riding his entire life. After graduating from Centralia College of Agriculture Technology, Bev took over the family farm, which he expanded to include cash crops and purebred dairy cattle. Bev was involved in municipal government for 20 years, including 7 years as Mayor of Middlesex Centre. Bev was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex in 2006 and was re-elected in 2008, 2011 and, most recently, 2015.  Bev Shipley is a founding member of the Rural Caucus, and a member of the All-Party Agriculture Caucus. Bev and his wife of over 45 years, Barb, raised three children. Bev is the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren.

Karen Vecchio (MP for Elgin-Middlesex-London) was first elected in 2015 to represent the riding of Elgin-Middlesex-London. Karen was named Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development in August, 2017.  She is a Member of the Conservative Party Shadow Cabinet, Chair of the Status of Women Committee, Chair of the Conservative Social Development Advisory Caucus, Member of the Auto Caucus, Tourism Caucus, Seniors Caucus, Anti-Poverty Caucus, Agricultural Caucus, Great Lakes Caucus, Restaurant and Hospitality Caucus, ALS Caucus, and the Juvenile Diabetes Caucus. In her role as the Shadow Minister, Karen deals with issues related to housing and homelessness, poverty, childcare, as well as issues related to youth and seniors. Karen is married to Mike Vecchio and they have 5 children.  She is very proud of her rural roots and strong family core values.
